what Contractor costs, back every month

Assumes sheet material is 35% of a kitchen's value, that proper nesting recovers 6% of board spend against cutting to an estimate, and that 60% of the time you spend per quote is the part the cutlist and quote build for you. Your shop is not average — treat this as an order of magnitude, not a promise.

Plannedmeans it is on the roadmap and not included yet — you are not paying for it today. We would rather show you where this is going than quietly leave it off the table.

* Contractor carries a fair-use soft cap of around 200 active projects. It exists to stop abuse, not to meter your work — no working joiner reaches it, and archived projects do not count.

Which one am I?

I want to see whether this actually works before I pay for it.

Demo

I cut at Timber City or Board King and assemble the job myself.

Contractor

There are a few of us — someone estimates, someone cuts, someone assembles.

Shop Pro

We run a floor, or several branches, and the numbers have to reconcile.

Manufacturer

We sell board, and we want the quotes built on ours.

Questions people actually ask

What actually happens when I hit the Demo wall?+
Nothing disappears. You keep every project, every cabinet and every cutlist you built — the demo gives you a correct cutlist, not a crippled one, because a cutlist that is wrong is worth less than no cutlist. What the demo will not do is price the job with your margins, and the PDF it produces for a client carries our watermark. Both of those unlock on Contractor, and your existing projects come with you.
Can I change plans mid-cycle?+
Yes, both directions. Upgrading takes effect immediately. Downgrading keeps your access until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then your account drops to the lower plan — your data stays. If your project count is above the new plan's allowance, the most recent projects stay open and the older ones become read-only rather than being deleted. Nothing is ever removed to enforce a limit.
What does the quote-email limit actually mean?+
It only applies to email sent from our mail server. That is a shared sending reputation we have to answer for, so it is metered: three in total on Demo, five a day on Contractor, twenty-five on Shop Pro. The moment you connect your own SMTP details in Settings — your own domain, your own mailbox — the cap does not apply at all, because that mail is not ours. Most shops do this in the first week and never think about it again.
What happens to my data if I cancel?+
Your account reverts to Demo and your projects stay where they are. You can still open them and still see them; what you lose is the paid output — the clean PDF, the CSV, the exports. Nothing is deleted on cancellation. Idle projects on the Demo plan are cleared after 30 days of no activity, so if you are stepping away for a season, export what you need first or keep a month of Contractor running.
Why is Contractor one seat with no add-on?+
Because the moment you have a team you are a shop, and a shop needs the things Shop Pro has — roles that keep client pricing off the workshop screen, a production queue, batching. Selling you a second Contractor seat would be selling you a cheaper version of the wrong plan. If that is genuinely wrong for how you work, tell us on WhatsApp; we would rather hear it than lose you to it.
How do I pay, and is there VAT?+
PayFast, in rand, on the self-serve plans — card or EFT, cancel any time, no setup fee. There is no VAT on your invoice: neither DTK ReFresh nor Miter & Scale is VAT-registered, so none is charged and there is no VAT to claim back. If we cross the registration threshold we will have to add it, and we will tell you before that happens rather than after.

Terms cover the rest — cancellation, failed payments and what we do with your data.

Still not sure? Ask us on WhatsApp — tell us how you work and we will tell you which plan fits, including if that is the free one.
