1. What Cookies Are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. We also use similar browser storage mechanisms (such as local storage) that behave like cookies for the purposes of this policy. This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and local storage Miter & Scale uses, why we use them, and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Miter & Scale spans two related sites: this marketing site at miterscale.co.za, and the application itself at app.miterscale.co.za. Some cookies described below are set on the shared .miterscale.co.za domain so that signing in here keeps you signed in there.

2. Essential Cookies

These cookies are necessary for the Service to work and cannot be switched off. We do not ask for consent to set them, because without them you could not sign in or use the Service at all.

• Supabase session cookies (sb-*): hold your signed-in authentication session. In production these are set on the shared .miterscale.co.za domain so the same session is readable on both miterscale.co.za and app.miterscale.co.za.
• ms-cookie-consent: records the choice you make in the cookie banner (essential-only or accept-all) so we don't ask you again. This cookie is itself essential — it is what lets us respect your preference.

Essential cookies are always active. Blocking them in your browser will likely break sign-in and other core functionality.

3. Analytics Cookies

We use Vercel Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics service that reports anonymised, aggregated usage data (page views and performance metrics). It does not use tracking cookies to build a profile of you across other sites, and we do not use it alongside any advertising network.

Analytics is loaded only if you choose “Accept all” in the cookie banner. If you choose “Essential only”, the analytics script is never loaded and no analytics cookie is set. You can change this choice at any time — see section 5 below.

4. Local Storage

When you try Miter & Scale in demo mode without an account, the application (app.miterscale.co.za) keeps your in-progress projects, cabinets, and cutlists in your browser's local storage rather than on our servers. This data never leaves your device while you remain unregistered.

If you register for an account, this locally-stored demo work is imported into your new account and then cleared from local storage. If you never register, it stays only in your browser and is not visible to us; clearing your browser's site data removes it permanently.

5. Managing Your Preferences

The first time you visit, a banner asks you to choose “Essential only” or “Accept all”. Your choice is saved in the ms-cookie-consent cookie described above, so we remember it on future visits and don't show the banner again.

To change your mind later, clear the ms-cookie-consent cookie for miterscale.co.za (and app.miterscale.co.za) in your browser's site settings — the banner will reappear so you can choose again. You can also block or delete cookies entirely through your browser's settings, though doing so for essential cookies will affect your ability to stay signed in.
